If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV)
Dear Heavenly Father, Twenty years ago today, our nation was rocked and we came together united… But today, we are as divided as possible. And it reminds me that people are fickle and nothing, except for You, is guaranteed. We took for granted our freedoms and even in our Christian communities, we have taken for granted the Judeo-Christian values on which our nation was founded. Please help us to humble ourselves before You and remember that apart from Christ, we can do nothing. As our nation hangs on by a thread with both sides screaming insults and hurling blame, help our Christian leaders emerge and drown out the shouts of accusation with the quiet whispers of Your Truth. Sweep our land with revival and open hearts to understand that the only true freedom comes at the feet of Jesus. And please, Lord, help our nation to turn around. Forgive us for rejecting You. Help us to be humble enough to admit we need You. And today, on the anniversary of 9/11, please comfort those who still grieve and may we never forget the brave men and women who gave their lives to save others and protect us when terror came knocking on our doors. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
