My Grace-Full Life

A Prayer for 8.31.20

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.  (James 5:16 ESV)

Father God, Your Word tells us to pray for one another, but often, we get so busy and we forget.  We don’t mean to.  But when we say we’ll pray for someone, please — hold us to it.  Don’t let us find any peace until we stop and pray.  Give us a sense of urgency so that we will pray when we promise.  Fill our hearts and minds with those who need our prayers — we don’t have to know the details, because You do.  But give us a sense of urgency that yearns to pray for those we love and care about.  And when we don’t know what to pray, help us to remember what Scripture says — “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26).  Help us to call on Your Holy Spirit to pray for us when the burdens are too great or we simply don’t know how to pray.  Thank You, for always listening to the genuine, heartfelt prayers of Your children.  In Jesus’ Holy Name, we pray, Amen.
