My Grace-Full Life

A Prayer for 7.8.21

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (Philippians 2:3 NKJV)

Dear Lord, C.S. Lewis once said, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.” Those words tend to fall short in our selfie-infused, look-at-me! look-at-me! society. And yet, Your word tells us to be humble and to think of others. Lord, I fail at this too often. As much as I despise the saying, “look out for number one,” that’s exactly what I do when I should be thinking more of others. Please give me a selfless heart that seeks to lift others through Christian kindness and encouragement. Please help me to recognize the needs around me and equip me to respond to them according to Your mercy. Please help me to be humble and a servant of Christ. I’m Jesus’ Name, Amen.
