For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit. (1 Peter 3:18 NKJV)
Dear Jesus Christ, Thank You that Your death covered all our sins. Thank You that Your sacrifice took into account the sins we have done in the past, our present situations, and even future choices we may make. While we should make every effort to avoid sin, making choices that honor You and living with hearts of humble gratitude for Your sacrifice, it is still comforting to know that Your grace covers us. We praise You that once we’re saved, we’re always saved… And when we mess up, restoration to fellowship with the Father is only a prayer of true repentance away.
Lord, You know I chose this verse today in remembrance of the young man who chose this as his life verse. I ask You to please give his mother and family comfort today as they lay his body to rest. Give them peace as they mourn him, but joy in the knowledge that he is with You.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
