Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. (Psalm 43:5 NKJV)
Dear Heavenly Father, Yesterday was a bad day for so many I know. It just seemed to be one of those weird days. And the truth is — whether yesterday was a hard day or not — and whether that hard day was based on grief, disappointment, or simply a “got up on the wrong side of the bed” kind of morning, people all over the world are discouraged. People are suffering under the weight of restrictions and this virus. We are tired of the separation and the rules and opinions and conflicting information from a corrupt system and media. And it’s taking a toll. Mental health issues are on the rise, as well as alcohol and drug use. Domestic violence has increased. The effects of 2020 have left us exhausted — mentally and even spiritually drained, especially since Christian fellowship has been so limited. And yet, even on our darkest days, we have the light of Christ. In You, we have hope. Help us to lift our faces to You. Help us to hope in You because You alone are worthy of our hopes and our praise. Let us turn our worries into worship and our fears into faith. Thank You, God — that You are worthy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
