My Grace-Full Life

A Prayer for 11.5.20

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6 NKJV)

Dear Jesus, Waiting is hard. Anxiety has already been prevalent in this most trying of years, and now — as we watch and wait for the results of our election, so many of us feel anxious. There is conflicting information which just adds to the tension. Lord, I simply ask this — whoever You have anointed as our next president, please let it be determined soon. If there is any deceit or violations of our laws in the election procedures, may they be brought to light and exposed now, rather than later. Restore honesty and integrity to our nation, Lord Jesus, and may our leaders remember that this isn’t about them — but it’s about our freedoms and our nation. Our election was never supposed to be about a popularity contest, but about policies. Our leaders and media are fighting while our country and our country’s future are left hanging and waiting. While our true citizenship is in heaven, and in the grand scheme of eternity, this pales in significance — it’s relevant and very real right now in this moment. Give Your peace to Your children and help us to remember that You are still sovereign and You are in control. Please Lord, let us remember that You use all things (and people and situations) to Your ultimate purpose and glory. May we remember to pray to You before we vent on social media or grow nervous by news reports. May we be anxious for nothing, but in all our fears and worries — turn to You. Please help us choose faith over fear and worship over worry. In Your Holy Name, Amen.
