My Grace-Full Life

A Prayer for 10.5.20

And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not. (Genesis 24:21 NKJV)

Dear Heavenly Father, When Abraham’s servant sought a wife for Isaac, he prayed a very specific prayer. And You answered in a very specific way — even before the servant had finished his prayer (according to Genesis 24:15). Then, in verse 21, we learn an important lesson…. The importance of being silent to listen for Your voice. Genesis 24:21 says, “And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.”  And I pray today that I will also be still. Be silent. Wait for You. Confirm Your voice.  Help me to not rush ahead of You, but to pray and be silent. To listen for what You have to say. Whether You answer my prayers immediately as you did for Abraham’s servant, or ask me to wait — help me to trust that Your plan and purpose are always better than mine.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
