And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” (Matthew 20:30-31 NKJV)
Dear Jesus, in Matthew, we read of the two blind men who called out to You. They may have been blind physically, but they weren’t blind spiritually. They recognized You for who You are. And what strikes me about them is that after calling out for You, even though others told them to be quiet — Scriptures say they cried out all the more. So Jesus, please give me a heart like these two men. When the world tries to silence my belief in You, may I too cry out for You all the more. I never want to stop reaching for You or calling out to You. May I never take Your mercy for granted, but be ever mindful of how desperately I need it. I love You, Jesus, and I pray in Your Name, Amen.
