Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good. (Ecclesiastes 9:18 NKJV)
Heavenly Father, How true this is. Ecclesiastes 9:18 is a “Preach it, Solomon” kind of verse. We’ve seen how one man’s sin can effect what is good, starting in the Garden of Eden… it’s happened in churches when pastors have been caught in scandals, and countless families have been destroyed because of someone’s bad choices… it’s another consequence of sin. And we know from those and so many other examples — sin doesn’t usually affect just one person. So Lord, please give us wisdom. Let us be equipped with the godly wisdom which You supply generously to all who ask for it (James 1:5). Help us to be wise warriors who seek to make good and holy choices rather than making the sinful, selfish choices that hurt ourselves and others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
