9.3.17 Prayer Prompt: Let's Worship

PRAYER PROMPT ••• It’s Sunday!
I love Sunday mornings!
It’s such an honor to be in the house of God!
There are so many reasons to be in church every week, but the best is in Matthew 18:20.
Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
I love that!
This isn’t just about being in a church building.
We’re there for the common purpose of worship and therefore, Jesus is there with us!
When we go to church, it’s not just about being a warm body in a seat.
There’s nothing passive about church attendance!
(And if it is, then you need to pray — is it you, or do you need a new church?)
Church attendance is active.
And not just the physical act of getting ready and driving over…
And I don’t mean the social connections either.
Being in the house of God is about learning about Jesus; encouraging our fellow believers; and worshiping God!
Learning is active.
Encouragement is active.
And worship is definitely active!
Singing a song of praise should come from your soul!
Absorb the words and let them rise up in your voice!
Praying should be a conversation from your heart, not a weekly checklist to hand over to God!
Reading scripture is a privilege – to be in God’s word and hear what He has to say!
Listening to a sermon – be focused!
Sometimes, God directs your pastor to a message designed for one person who needs to hear it… is that person you?
Today, as you pray, thank God for the freedom to worship in His house; to be surrounded by other believers!
And thank Him that in the middle of it all, Jesus is there!
Let’s worship Him!
