PRAYER PROMPT ••• You’ve heard the saying, “Can’t see the forest for the trees.”
It means we are blinded by the obvious that’s right in front of us.
Whether from ignorance or stubborn defiance… sometimes we simply are more comfortable being blind to things because as another saying goes, “ignorance is bliss.”
This picture said so much to me.
That tiny little window must be so frustrating to the person standing in front of it.
The stone wall is thick and therefore, is highly limiting to what the viewer can see.
From what little visibility we have, it looks like it would be a beautiful view, if we could just get rid of that wall!
Is there anything in your life that is the stone wall with a tiny window, that is preventing you from seeing the bigger picture?
Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:6, “to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.”
Let’s take the words “His glorious grace,” and make that our view from the window.
Are you content with what you see?
Do you trust that there’s more that you want to view?
Or do you think, “that view is good enough?”
I hope this is making sense, but if we take God’s grace and look at it only through a tiny window, we miss the overall magnificence of His gift to us.
Our salvation is based on our faith in Jesus which is given through a grace too big to be contained by so small a view.
The problem is us.
We fail to remember that we can’t earn anything (Ephesians 2:8-9), and we lack complete trust in God’s promises.
So we are more comfortable living behind the wall and only appreciating a fraction of the grace that is right in front of us.
We forget this truth: if we want to see a better view of God’s grace, the wall can come down.
All we have to do is ask Him to remove all the barriers that keep us blind from His amazing grace.
Today, as you pray, let God know that you’re not content with a small window of His grace; you want a big picture, open view where you can see His glorious grace and appreciate all He’s done for you.
