PRAYER PROMPT ••• The Apostle Paul has, in my opinion, one of the most fascinating testimonies in Scripture.
A Jewish zealot, he was doing all he could to destroy the Christian church when he went through his own conversion on the way to Damascus.
Talk about a 180!
Paul completely transformed his life and really became one of the most passionate people (if not the most passionate!) about sharing the Gospel.
Throughout his ministry, he was thrown in prison multiple times; whipped; beaten; and stoned (2 Corinthians 11:23-25).
He was persecuted for the Word’s sake.
In a letter to the Galatians, Paul warned them about those who were more interested in preaching the law rather than preaching the grace of Jesus.
He said in chapter 6, verse 12b, “They don’t want to be persecuted for teaching that the cross of Christ alone can save.”
He wrapped up this chapter in verse 17, the second part says, “For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus.”
As I read these verses this morning, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Does my testimony show?”
While there are still Christians in this world who are physically punished for their faith in Jesus, in America, that hasn’t been the case.
Our country was founded on freedom of religion and the ability to freely worship God.
So while you and I aren’t beaten for our faith, and we don’t have physical scars as a result of believing, does our outward appearance show others that we love Jesus?
How do we do that?
Maybe by sharing a Bible verse on Facebook?
Talking about a recent church service?
Inviting a friend to Bible study?
Wearing a t-shirt that has a faith-based message?
Praying in public (even silently bowing your head) before a meal?
Showing others kindness with no expectations in return?
What are you and I doing that shows the world our faith?
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to give you the same passion for sharing the Gospel that Paul had.
Ask Him to give you the courage to outwardly live your faith so all can see – you love Jesus!
