PRAYER PROMPT ••• What fruits define your spirit?
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians about the Fruit of the Spirit.
These are the nine characteristics of Christians faith — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
These attributes are described in Galatians 5:22-23 and it may be human nature to enthusiastically say, “We’re going to work hard to have all nine fruits in our lives!”
But the reality is – unless we let the Holy Spirit lead us, we will fail.
Without Him, we cannot live this way all the time!
Sure, we may have seasons when some fruit is more in season, so to speak, but can you say you love others all the time?
Do you feel joy all the time?
Are you patient all the time?
I don’t think any of us want to be tested for patience!
I certainly don’t want to ask my family for their opinion on the matter!
We aren’t perfect, but the Holy Spirit is.
His perfection can work in us and through us, enabling us to produce a bountiful crop of spiritual fruit!
I just wish I’d stop getting in his way.
Anyone else??
Thankfully, He is all of these things – loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and in control.
Without Him, I don’t stand a chance at achieving these fruits on my own.
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to help you have a fruitful spirit that exemplifies the attributes of a Christian.
Ask Him to remind your heart often that it’s His work through you that will produce the best results.
