PRAYER PROMPT ••• When we have a situation we’re praying about, it’s our nature to want to give God directions.
And friends, I am the worst of the worst.
My family and friends have heard this a million times… I call it my “shove over and let me drive” mentality.
When it comes to a spreadsheet, sure.
That works.
Get out of my way because this nerdy girl loves to work in Excel.
Preparing a meal?
Get out of my kitchen, I’ll do it myself.
Yes, even the full Thanksgiving Day feast because I don’t need any help.
Or if you want to be literal, hand me the car keys because I really don’t like to be the passenger.
Have you figured out, in these few brief words, what a control freak I am??
But when it comes to God?
Yeah, I need to get out of His way.
My human nature wants to give Him all kinds of suggestions and helpful hints.
How He must waffle between wanting to sigh in exasperation at me…
Or outright laugh at my feeble attempts to “help.”
God doesn’t need my help.
He has a plan – a blueprint any architect would drool over.
Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” and Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”
These are two verses that I have to wonder… did God have my name in mind when He ordained them??
Today, as you pray, if there’s something on your heart, give it to God and then leave it there.
Accept that even your most scathingly brilliant idea will pale in comparison to the plan God has.
Trust Him to work out the details and in your prayers, let Him know You trust His wisdom and His plan.
Claim His promise in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Where is the love button? You really did an amazing job with this post. I joke and tell my family “If only I could see the blue prints then I would be okay and I would calm down.” lol. Well it doesn’t work like that as much as I wish it did! At some point in our lives there is something we want more then anything. We are all like that and will do anything to get there.
Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite verses. As a matter of fact, I have a ring with that verse on it and wear the ring as a reminder of that plan that God does have for me. Regardless of what I want for my own life. He has something better in store for me. Something way better then what I have conjured up for myself. Keep up the great work! I look forward in reading these daily 🙂
You are so sweet, Ashley! I know God handles so many things as a “need-to-know” basis, but it’s so hard to wait, isn’t it? Especially when we see Him at work, and we want to speed things up. But His timing is ALWAYS so much better than mine! HUGS!!!!
OH! And I have a Jeremiah 29:11 bracelet! I don’t wear it that often because the clasp is magnetic and it pulled off once. But I love that verse too!
I got my ring from a website called songear. I have attached the link to the ring:

I’m not sure what happened to my response so lets try this again. I got my ring off of a website called songear.
