PRAYER PROMPT ••• This morning is our third and final installment in the review of Romans 12:12. We’ve broken the verse down into “rejoice in hope,” “be patient in tribulation,” and today is “be constant in prayer.”
Prayer is the ongoing, never ending conversation that we have with God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
It’s our direct line of communication.
And like any relationship, communication is a key element to a healthy, strong connection.
Throughout Scripture, we are urged to make prayer a priority.
Just a few examples include 1 Thessalonians 5:17’s “Pray without ceasing,” Ephesians 6:18, “Praying at all times in the Spirit,” and Colossians 4:2, “Continue steadfastly in prayer.”
What I love about prayer is the simplicity of it.
We make it so much harder than it needs to be.
We overthink it, assuming we must come to God with big, solemn words, if not a degree in theology.
We all have a unique voice and a unique style, and God doesn’t care if we are great speakers.
He just wants us to show up and speak to Him.
From prayers of praise and gratitude… forgiveness and requests for help… faith… prayers for ourselves and others… we are called to wear the full Armor of God as we pray (Ephesians 6:10-18)!
Today, as you pray, thank God that He’s available 24/7/365!
There’s never a time when He’s not ready to hear from us!
Thank Him for the promise in James 5:16b, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
