7.7.18 Praise & Prayer Prompt: An Ongoing Reflection of God’s Timing

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• In all the universe, I cannot fathom a more beautifully perfect sight than the Northern Lights.
I’ve never seen them in person, but I’m fascinated by them.
I think they must be the most beautiful reflection of God’s creative genius.
Seeing them in person is at the top of my travel dream-list.
Someday…
That’s not really the point of today’s Praise & Prayer Prompt.
I used the picture to support the verse I want to talk about because it’s stunning.
Then, I felt compelled to tell you what I think about the Northern Lights.
But getting on point…
Back in January, I shared that my word of the year was “timing.”
Friends, when God puts a focus word on your heart, He’s not joking.
I have learned more about timing in the last six months than I could have fathomed.
And with six months to go, I know He’s going to continue to teach me.
The ongoing reminder He’s given me about timing is really about waiting.
His timing is perfect, and He’s never late.
Psalm 18:30 says, “God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.”
Okay, I know… “timing” isn’t mentioned in this verse at all.
But for me, it’s a perfect reflection of my focus word.
“God’s way is perfect.”
That includes His timing.
He’s not sitting up in heaven, flipping through a Heavenly to-do list or appointment book, trying to figure out how to squeeze me in to His demanding schedule.
He knows exactly what He’s doing and He has it all precisely planned.
Next — “All the LORD’s promises prove true.”
Yes.
Completely.
He never fails us.
Because He is perfect, it’s impossible for Him to forget.
In his final words to Israel, Joshua said, “Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!” (Joshua 23:14b).
Those words hold true today and can be seen in His timing.
Finally, “He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.”
While His timing may not line up with ours, and a life lived with God doesn’t mean we won’t have problems, what it does promise is security.
We don’t have to understand Him to trust Him.
He is our Heavenly Father and a Father looks after His children (Psalm 103:13; Proverbs 3:11-12; 1 John 3:1).
A father knows when it’s time to comfort; a time to discipline; and a time to celebrate.
Our Heavenly Father does all of that for us.
Today, as you pray, give praise for the opportunity to be sons and daughters of God through the redemption of Jesus Christ.
Pray that you will honor His timing and trust in Him, knowing He is perfect in all things.
