PRAYER PROMPT ••• If you’re even vaguely familiar with the Bible, you’ve likely heard the phrase, “faith of a mustard seed.”
The phrase is almost synonymous with “move a mountain,” but that’s not the only mustard seed comparison Jesus made.
In Matthew 13:31-32, He shared about the planting and growth of a mustard seed.
Why a mustard seed?
When Jesus told this parable, He used a local reference point that could be appreciated by His audience.
In that region, the mustard seed was the smallest seed from which to grow.
But the story has a bigger picture.
It’s not just about having a “small” faith.
The mustard seed, planted in faith, grows large.
It becomes a tree that can grow up to 20 feet.
As the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), Jesus can enable us to grow in faith if we are willing to let Him.
Speaking from experience, the faith I have had grown and blossomed tremendously since I stepped back from my will and let Jesus show me His… and since I am a work in progress, it continues to grow!
The growth of our faith is limitless – provided we don’t put any limitations on Jesus!
Today, as you pray, ask Jesus to plant in you the faith to grow.
Ask Him to remind your heart often that while we have limitations, He does not.
Pray that your faith will grow to astronomical proportions, with your branches stretching to the point that the Holy Spirit can use you to reach many for Christ.
