7.25.20 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Eager Obedience

TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments. (Psalm 119:6 ESV)

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• I’m happy to report that yesterday was a MUCH better day.  Of course, I stayed home so I couldn’t get into too much trouble. Today is going to be super short because I’m late getting started, and the 7:59 deadline for those who receive the email version is looming, and the clock is relentless in its ticking…

I’m using the Bible verse of the day from BibleGateway.com as our focal verse: “I hasten and do not delay to keep Your commandments” (Psalm 119:60). How I wish I could state this with the same confidence as the writer of the Psalm. But if I’m honest, I drag my feet sometimes to obey. And sometimes, I take the scenic route to obedience. Then, there are other times when I try a few other options before finally conceding that God’s way is the right way.

Anyone else relate? I know I’m not the only one here…

Yet, there is joy in obedience to the Lord. Psalm 119 is actually a really interesting chapter to read because eager obedience is a frequent theme throughout. And it’s a Psalm that I need to do a better job of writing on my heart.

Today, as you pray, thank God for His rules. Thank Him that He knows best and wants the best for us. Ask the Holy Spirit to put a spirit of obedience in your heart that you will eagerly rush to do as God instructs.
