PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Who else remembers the admonition shared by Thumper in Disney’s 1942 classic, “Bambi?”
“If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.”
I wish this was plastered on every billboard in America because we really need a reminder.
That and “You don’t have to show up to every argument you’re invited to.”
Today is going to be kind of short because honestly, I’m getting tired of talking about this topic.
This upcoming political season is already wearing me out and it hasn’t really gained momentum yet.
But it has weighed on me this week.
Let’s look at a quick reminder from Romans 12:14-18 ESV:
“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”
It’s a pretty simple concept and the verses are straightforward.
As we interact with those who are different from us—whether in thought or lifestyle—let’s make it a practice to simply pray for one another.
We don’t have to give opinions to every situation.
And here’s a newsflash that is going to shock many people: at the end of the day, our opinions don’t matter.
The final say will be God’s.
Today, as you pray, thank God for wisdom of the Bible that tells us how to love and how to interact with others.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you temper yourself and simply live peaceably with others.
