PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Praise Report!
My mom and grandmother are finally home after a month and two-plus years, respectively.
You may remember that about a month ago, I shared that my grandmother has spent over two years living with her brother in their hometown of Kentucky, serving as his caregiver.
She acted as the hands and feet of Jesus where she was needed, and that can never be faulted.
And while my mom isn’t the Florence Nightingale my grandmother is (few people are!), my mom stepped in to help.
God has gifted my mother with an extraordinary talent of organization and administration, so she used those skills to help in areas that would have overwhelmed my grandmother.
And I’ve got to give major props and kudos to my cousin, Steve, for all he did to help.
Without Steve and the support of his amazing wife, Marcy, I’m not sure they could have gotten everything squared away to come home in a a month.
I am beyond grateful to Steve and Marcy because I have missed my mom and grandmother terribly.
We had a great reunion last night and my son made his famous strawberry cake to welcome them home.
As my husband and I drove back to our house, I was thinking that as wonderful as that reunion was, the one that really matters is going to be countless times better.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.”
The priority on that day will be coming face-to-face with Jesus and if you haven’t seen it, look up the painting titled “The First Day in Heaven” to get a glimpse of that joy!
But after meeting Jesus, we will be reunited with our loved ones who have believed and died before us!
Isn’t that wonderful??!!
I can’t wait to see my Papo, my great-grandparents, and my great-uncle!
But I also want to share another kind of reunion that I think of often…
Especially as I meet women from all over the world in online Bible Studies…
And as I volunteer at Proverbs 31 along with women I’ve never met in person…
And people I work with…
And people I have a brief interaction with…
All of these other believers whom I have only a passing acquaintance with…
Or who I won’t have a chance to meet in person…
I’m going to have eternity with them.
To celebrate forever with Jesus with them!
To discover the great ways God used us in ways we may not even know!
The reunion we experience in heaven is going to reunite us with our families, yes…
But our reunion is going to be part meet and greet, which I confess, terrifies the introvert in me, but I know God will strengthen me and empower me!
It’s going to connect us with people we don’t know.
Me and you, for instance!
And despite being a bit shy with new people, I am so excited to meet you someday!
We are going to meet the Bible’s powerhouses of faith like Noah, Abraham, Moses, Ruth, David, Mary, Joseph, Peter, John, and Paul (to name a few!).
It will truly be the reunion like no other!
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for the work He’s doing to organize the most incredible, amazing, spectacular reunion ever!
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be prepared as we don’t know when the reunion will start!
Ask Him to help you be a witness to others so they too can have the opportunity to celebrate forever with Jesus!
