PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• After Billy Graham died, I read a quote from him that has stuck with me.
“God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.”
Personally, I agree with him, and hope it applies to cats as well as dogs (since I have several I miss very much).
But, of course, we can’t be for sure until our time comes.
In John 14:2-3, Jesus said, “There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”
Seriously y’all – think about this.
Jesus ascended to heaven 2000 years ago and has been working on getting heaven ready for us ever since.
It only took six days to create the world and look how beautiful it is!
Can you begin to fathom even a sliver of a percentage of what heaven’s glory will be like since Jesus has been working on it all this time?!!?!
Yeah, me neither.
My wildest imagination will come up short to the reality of heaven.
But going back to what Billy Graham said — that’s exactly what God is doing.
He’s seeing to every conceivable detail that will make us happy.
If we’ve accepted Jesus as our Savior, He’s got a place for us to feel completely at home in His presence.
More at home than we’ve ever felt.
And as a homebody who absolutely loves to be at home now, I can only imagine the feeling of complete peace and contentment we’ll feel there.
What will that look like for you?
For me, I think of my pets, a coffee maker, and y’all will think I’m crazy, but my computer with access to Microsoft Excel and Word.
If you know me personally, you know I’m a nerd so that didn’t surprise you.
(I’ll have to share my “Spreadsheets for Jesus!” story sometime when I write about spiritual gifts.)
But most of all — when I think of being at home in heaven, I want my family and friends with me.
When we can be together with Jesus…
That’s the greatest and most beautiful image I can begin to fathom.
To stand as a family and bask in the glory of Jesus forever…
Oh yes.
That will be heaven.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for working on YOUR place in heaven.
Thank Him for the thoughtful details He’s planning for you and all He’s doing to make heaven your forever-home.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you focus on your eternal home, more than the temporary earthly one now.
