PRAYER PROMPT ••• My mom says my son is exactly like me.
I get a little mad when she says it because at 19 years old, my son is headstrong, willful, and stubborn.
He is a couple of weeks from moving into his own apartment with a friend and as a mother, my heart is full of anxiety and stress about it.
Will he manage his money so he can pay his bills?
Will he remember to lock the door before he goes to sleep?
Will he double check the oven?
“Will he” and “What if’s” consume my thoughts if I don’t turn my focus to God.
I know this new season is a normal part of growing up.
But by nature, I’m a control freak who likes to know where everyone I love is at all times so I know they are safe.
Of course, my natural instinct is completely unreasonable.
My mom had to let go and it’s my turn.
Thankfully, I have my faith.
The Holy Spirit can (and continues to) transform my heart.
I’m a constant work in progress.
I’ve prayed countless times for Him to remove my anxiety when I was worried about my son, and He did.
I trust my son’s safety to the Lord and while at times, my human nature wants to snatch him back and try to control things, the Holy Spirit reminds me that MY “control” is an illusion.
Only God is in control.
As I move into this new season, where I must let go, I would covet your prayers.
In the meantime, what is a situation you face that causes you anxiety?
Are you letting go so God can do His job?
Today, as you pray, please join me in asking God for frequent reminders that He is better at His job than we are.
Ask Him to help you trust in His plan, even when you can’t see where the road is going.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
