TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV)
PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• This week, a new documentary was released through Daily Wire called “What Is a Woman?” I watched it last night, and I can sum it up with one word: disturbing. Don’t get me wrong — it’s an excellent documentary, and I highly recommend it. But it is incredibly disturbing.
The documentary features interview after interview with trained medical professionals, university professors, and even a Congressman — all who refused to (or couldn’t??) answer a simple question: What is a woman? At a certain point, while watching these people stumble to respond to the question that even a first grader can answer — it brought to mind the line from “The Shawshank Redemption” — “How can you be so obtuse? … Is it deliberate?”
I encourage everyone to watch it. It’s not a Christian film, but it plays out the words from Paul’s letter to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. I know it’s easy to skim over the Bible verses, but I really want you to see this… so I’m going to break this passage down into a list:
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
- For men will be lovers of themselves,
- lovers of money,
- boasters,
- proud,
- blasphemers,
- disobedient to parents,
- unthankful,
- unholy,
- unloving,
- unforgiving,
- slanderers,
- without self-control,
- brutal,
- despisers of good,
- traitors,
- headstrong,
- haughty,
- lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
- to having a form of godliness but denying its power.
And from such people turn away!”
Even if you never watch this documentary — how could anyone read this list, written 2000 years ago, and not recognize these behaviors in our world today? To deny it would, again, beg the question — “How can you be so obtuse? … Is it deliberate?”
You can’t deny it! And even if you tried — go back to the list and read point four! We are in June — a month that celebrates “pride” as if it’s a virtue or act of courage! Spoiler alert: no, it’s not.
My heart breaks for these people who have bought into this narrative that essentially spits in the face of our Creator. And it angers me that progressive Christians are affirming it under the adage of “Christian love.” That’s not Christian love! To affirm anything that’s not biblical is to state that 1) we know better than God and 2) God made a mistake. There is NOTHING loving about that as it pushes people deeper into their own sinful delusions! God does not make mistakes, and we do not know more than Him!!! There is not a single living person who was not made in God’s own image and whom He did not create with a plan and a purpose!
Honestly, it makes me want to cry. I can’t imagine how much more depraved our world can get or what is going to happen in the next year, let alone ten years…. Our country is reaping the consequences of turning its back on God because 2 Timothy 3:1-5 is the very definition of a godless society. We are living in a land of dry bones (Ezekiel 37:1-14), and we need to pray for God to breathe life in our society and raise up men and women of God with courage and conviction! God’s Spirit is still alive and active and the only hope we have is Him.
Today, as you pray, please join me in a plea for revival. Ask the Holy Spirit to move in our world and convict the hearts of those who haven’t yet believed. Pray fervently and ask God to intervene again — to do what He’s done before — and bring a revival that rivals that at Nineveh according to Jonah 3:5, “So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.” Ask God to move in all walks of life — from the leaders to the impoverished and everyone in between.
