6.28.17 Prayer Prompt: Share Jesus

PRAYER PROMPT ••• There are 7.5 billion people in the world.
And only 2.2 billion are professed Christians.
That’s about 70% of the world who are living without Jesus.
I know, I know… not all of us are called to be preachers.
I’m definitely not!
I’m not a leader or a speaker.
But nonetheless, we are commanded to share the Gospel.
The bulk of our job is simply in how we live our lives.
Are we letting Christ shine through us?
Have you turned from old, worldly habits, and embraced a new life in Christ?
Are we modeling the fruits of the spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?
We are a walking advertisement for Jesus.
And the world is reading every word – waiting on us to mess up so they can call us hypocrites.
This judgment, though unfair, is a burden put on us by those who have lived loud, hypocritical lives — thus, setting up a stereotype that all Christians are hypocrites!
But we all know that being a Christian doesn’t make you perfect – only perfectly forgiven!
Fear of being called a hypocrite shouldn’t keep us from living a bold life of faith!
Sure, you will mess up from time to time, but you ask for forgiveness and try again.
You don’t have to hit people in the head with a Bible to share the Gospel.
And we don’t have to become missionaries in a foreign country to do it either — we only need to look at the personal mission field assigned to each of us.
What can you do to shine for Jesus?
What can you do that will show others the love of Christ?
Maybe it’s as simple as keeping a promise; sending a card to someone who needs a little kindness; or posting a Bible verse on Facebook.
Today, as you pray, ask God to help you.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to opportunities to share the Gospel and equip you with the tools you need to do it.
Before you think “I can’t,” ask Him to permanently etch Philippians 4:13 on your heart, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
