PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• There’s a meme that’s making the social media circuit right now that’s quite powerful.
It’s titled, “What If We Treat Our Bibles the Way We Treat Our Cell Phones?” Then it lists five thought-provoking questions:
- what if we carried it everywhere?
- what if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it
- what if we checked it for messages throughout the day
- what if we used it in case of an emergency, and
- what if we spent an hour or more using it each day?
There’s no question that most of us are fairly clingy with our cellphones.
We’ve become a nation of Linuses… but instead of carrying a blue blanket everywhere we go, we take our phones.
While there is so much truth in that aforementioned meme, I also believe our smartphones can be powerful tools to draw closer to God.
In James 4:8a, it says, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”
In what ways can you use your smartphone to draw closer to God?
Today, I’m sharing a few of my favorite apps.
Below, I’m going to share a screenshot of my faith-apps for your reference.
First, I recommend the Bible Gateway app.
It’s like carrying 50 Bibles with you all the time since you can switch between translations.
I’m a Proverbs 31 girl, so of course I recommend the P31 and First Five apps!
Both are packed with resources for mobile worship!
I love to listen to Dr. Stanley, so InTouch is a favorite and when it comes to questions about the Bible, I love GotQuestions.
I use it all the time.
Worship music on Joy FM is a must!
Echo is a prayer app and I have a list of prayer requests in it.
Periodically through the day, I get reminders to pray for certain people and situations.
The meme that encourages us to use our Bible the way we use our phone is totally on point.
But we also have an opportunity to use our phones to worship God and have faith-tools wherever we go.
Today, as you pray, thank God for the ability to use technology to learn more about Him and draw closer to Him.
Ask Him to help you focus more on Him and to use your phone in a way that is productive to your faith-walk.
