PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• I have a terrible memory with one exception.
I have a great memory for random bits of useless trivia that I can’t possibly use in everyday life.
And today, I’m sharing one random bit of useless trivia with you…
When the starfish eats, it pushes its stomach out of its body and wraps it around whatever food it plans to consume, then pulls it back in.
I hope you can now face your Monday morning with contentment and ease now that you know this fun fact.
In all seriousness though, you should.
Because the starfish is, in my opinion, a great example of God’s creativity.
And I love that reminder on a Monday morning!
Actually, if you take the time to learn about the various animals on our planet, all of them demonstrate a rich, creative thinking process of our God.
(And in some cases, show His sense of humor!)
Obviously, being selective about where you get your information is key.
While the scientific community would have everyone believing in big bangs and evolutionary theory, there are some amazing Creationist scientists out there who can explain the unique characteristics that God gave to the different animals.
There are several good documentaries on PureFlix.com (Christian version of Netflix) and Answers in Genesis is an amazing resource for Creationism-science (no idea if that’s a word…there’s a strong possibility I just made it up).
And if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend the film, “Is Genesis History?”
An absolutely fantastic documentary that explains things so well and in terms that can be understood without a Ph.D. in science.
But of all the different animals God designed, He only patterned one living being after Himself—us.
Mankind.
We are made in God’s own image and that’s a humbling, amazing, wonderful thought.
Genesis 1:26 says, “Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.’”
Moreover, after sin came into the world and created a chasm between us and God, God didn’t write us off.
In His infinite love and wisdom, God gave us an opportunity to become new again.
1 John 1:9 says, “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
And in 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, we learn, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.”
God’s creativity shines throughout creation and His love is demonstrated by His willingness to forgive and make us new again.
Today, as you pray, praise God for His creativity and thank Him for loving us so much, that of all creation, He gave us the opportunity to be made in His image.
Thank Him for the chance to be renewed, despite our sins.
And ask the Holy Spirit to keep working on you, so there is less of you and more of Him (John 3:30).
