My Grace-Full Life

6.22.22 Personalize the Word: 2 Timothy 1:7

6.22.22 NOTE TO READERS:

Yesterday, I shared John 3:16, and encouraged you to personalize by inserting your name. As I said, I don’t know if this will be daily, every now and then, or just temporary.  We’ll see how the Holy Spirit leads and go from there…

For those who missed yesterday’s post — there are going to be blanks in the verse. Insert your name as you read.

Again, my disclaimer:  This is not meant to re-write Scripture. The Bible is clear that we are not to add or takeaway from it. However, if you’re a new believer — you may struggle to figure out how these verses apply to you… or if you’re a seasoned believer, you may have grown numb to the words from familiarity.  This exercise isn’t meant to alter or change God’s Word or the context of the verse.  Instead, the goal is to remind us how personal His Word is. The Bible is God’s love letter to you and me. As one person put it, “The Bible is the only book, where the Author is in love with the reader.”

ORIGINAL VERSE:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

PERSONALIZE IT:

For God has not given ________ a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

PRAYER FOR THE DAY:

Heavenly Father, Courage is not just for the Billy Graham’s of the world. You’ve called all Your children to be bold in our faith and love. All we need to do is trust You to provide! Help us to live in the power of Your mighty Spirit and not cower to the world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
