TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. (John 14:3 ESV)
PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• For the last few months, I’ve been listening to a lot of sermons on the end times. Greg Laurie has quite a few on YouTube and he just finished a great end times series on Harvest at Home (Harvest.org — see below for list of sermon titles). At the moment, I’m also reading Don Stewart’s book, “Rapture: The Blessed Hope of the Church.” It’s a topic that has been on my mind for months… I truly believe that we are living in the end times.
This morning, let’s look at 2 Timothy 3:1-5. These verses say, “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.”
When Jesus spoke of the end times, He said even more succinctly, “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).
All of this is happening. Right now. We talk about spreading love, not hate, but we don’t do that very well. Even those who talk about love spew venom on those who disagree with them.
I don’t like talking about this. My normal plan would be avoidance and excuses—and I have a valid one… End times prophecy is way outside my area of knowledge and comfort zone for discussion. But I don’t have to be a theologian to understand that everything these verses are saying are playing out before our very eyes.
Y’all, time is short. Share Jesus with others. If you haven’t accepted Him as your Savior, I urge you to hurry… time is running short. We don’t know when and I’m not trying to pinpoint a date… After all, Jesus said, “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only” (Matthew 24:36). But the clock is ticking.
Consider this: Jesus could come at any moment. How do you want Him to find you when He comes?
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for His promise to return for those who have believed in Him. Thank Him for His words in John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart that you are always at the ready… Ask Him to fill you with hopeful anticipation for Jesus!
