My Grace-Full Life

6.10.17 Prayer Prompt: Loneliness

PRAYER PROMPT ••• As an only child, I learned how to be alone and entertain myself at an early age.
As an adult, I often crave solitude.
However, there’s a difference between solitude and loneliness.
For many Christians, loneliness is a very real thing. By the world’s standard, we are weird.
People assume we are judgmental.
New Christians may lose friends because some simply don’t understand their enthusiasm for Jesus.
You may no longer want to engage in certain conversations or activities which adds to the separation.
A new Christian (or a Christian restored to fellowship with Christ) may be unsure who to talk to; who would understand; or how to approach others.
It can be discouraging.
But we should be encouraged because of all the people in the world – we are the ones who are truly NEVER alone.
As Christians, the Holy Spirit is always with us!
We are God’s children and connected to Jesus because of His gift!
Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
There will be those who walk away from you if you’re a Christian.
Our job is to pray for them but remember this truth from Psalm 27:10, “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”
I am speaking from personal experience.
Though I accepted Christ as a teenager, I drifted for years as an adult.
When I decided I was done doing things my way, and committed to doing things His way, I changed.
From my language to my priorities… and it’s cost me much.
But my reward is so much more than the loss.
Jesus died for me.
The least I can do is live for Him, even if I am rejected by those I trusted on earth.
I know who will NEVER reject me and in that truth, I find great comfort when I feel lonely.
As you pray today, pray for yourself and other Christians who are rejected because of their faith; pray God will bring friends in their lives who will accept their faith, but most of all, they will remember to whom they belong and who they can go to when they are lonely.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
