PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• You may remember that at the end of March, my son got a harebrained idea to play on a skateboard and subsequently, fall off of said skateboard.
What was a severe elbow break took a backseat to some serious complications during his surgery, and he spent a total of four nights in the hospital, two of those in ICU.
Thankfully, he is doing much better.
He’s breathing normally and his doctor is pleased with the way the elbow is healing.
We’re hoping he can go back to work in another month or so.
All of this boiled down to a choice.
Why it seemed like a good idea is beyond me, but we have all been there in one shape or another, right?
My son’s choice came with an expensive price tag though…
The hospital bill arrived yesterday and all I can say is…
Nothing.
I about choked.
And then said a prayer of thanksgiving for health insurance.
In this life, we have one major, forever-kind-of choice to make.
We either choose to follow Jesus, or we choose to reject Him.
And that decision comes with a price tag.
If we choose Jesus, it’s a priceless decision that means we will enjoy eternity in heaven because we received His free gift of salvation.
If we reject Him, the payment is also priceless…
In that the consequence is eternal damnation and separation from God.
It’s a bill that many will face and will desperately wish they could handle differently.
Galatians 6:7-8 says, “Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.”
The choice is ours.
Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
So this isn’t about Team Heaven versus Team Hell.
It’s about sharing how God, in His great love and mercy, gives us the free will to choose Him or reject Him.
It’s about what Jesus did for every human being who has ever or will ever live.
It’s about the urgent need we should all have to share Jesus with others because no one can afford to make the wrong choice!
It’s a debt that no one can afford to pay!
Except for Jesus.
We just have to say yes and His blood covers 100% of our sin debt.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for erasing the debt we cannot pay.
Ask the Holy Spirit to use you and embolden you to share with others what Jesus has done for you.
Ask Him to use you to show others what Jesus has done for them so they too will accept His gift of salvation.
