PRAYER PROMPT ••• Robert Frost wrote a poem titled, “Mending Wall,” the famous line from it says, “Good fences make good neighbors.”
To be honest, I’m not really a fan of poetry, but I studied this one in high school (my literature teacher should be proud that I still remember it, 20-some years later).
In short, the poem speaks of restoring the barrier between two people, while the narrator wonders about the benefits.
Turning this over to more spiritual matters, Christians often live lives behind fences, going to church, and only speaking about God and the Bible in the presence of those who share their beliefs.
However, the Bible repeatedly talks about sharing the Gospel with others.
For instance, Mark 16:15 says, “And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'”
We aren’t supposed to live our faith privately, but to share it with others!
Whether we share it vocally or through actions, the Christian faith shouldn’t be limited to those within our fenced in lives.
Today, as you pray, ask God to help you live a life that is visible outside the fence.
Ask Him to show you how to share the gospel with others.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
