5.5.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: A Crazy Week

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• In the past, I’ve shared about how I tend to be a compartmentalizer.
And it’s something that I struggle with on an ongoing basis, especially when I worry about my son and my mom.
I compartmentalize in other areas of my life too.
And I think most of us can relate to this one: prayer time is our one-on-one time with God.
Then, we go to work.
Need I say more?!
Who else is guilty of forgetting to take Him along?
God wants to be involved in every part of our life.
I woke up this morning to a strong sense of conviction on this after the week I had last week.
Y’all—Camp Crazy doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Last minute (and big!) event to prepare for, prayer breakfast, meetings, new refrigerator delivery, Bible study at church, and a sick cat were just the tip of the iceberg for a week where I was running in 50-11 directions.
And through it, I was so busy, I made the mistake of compartmentalizing the Holy Spirit.
I left Him out of all the tasks and responsibilities of my crazy week.
I sped through my devotion time and didn’t even get to all my reading.
And I’m sorry for it.
I got through that crazy week and yesterday’s community event by the skin of my teeth and in spite of myself.
But it would have been a much smoother, easier time if I’d let the Holy Spirit be a part of it all.
The Bible gives example after example of how God wants to be involved in our lives.
We may think something is trivial, but He still cares about the finer details of our lives.
And we serve a great big God who can do wonders with the littlest of things.
I’ve run myself ragged this week when I could have saved myself a ton of exhaustion if I’d just surrendered my load to my Heavenly Father.
In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus gave us the solution to our anxiety problems.
And in verse 33, He said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”
He is willing to walk beside us when we write that proposal.
He’s willing to sit beside us as we negotiate that contract.
He’s willing to be with us when we invoice clients and even when we need to run errands.
There’s no moment too trivial for Him to not be included in the details.
I’ve repented and have asked the Holy Spirit to nudge me relentlessly if and when I try to run ahead of Him again.
He cannot be relegated to the back seat if we truly want Him to be the driver of our lives.
Today, as you pray, thank the Father for caring about our day-to-day moments.
Thank Jesus for showing us how to handle our anxieties.
And ask the Holy Spirit to help you focus on Him and remind you that in your busiest, most urgent moments— you don’t have time NOT to pray or include Him.
