My Grace-Full Life

5.22.18 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Jesus With Us

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Every morning, as I sit down to write My Grace-Full Life, I pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and that God will be glorified.
But tucked away in the back of my mind, I keep wondering, “How long will I have this assignment?”
In moments of doubt, when I’m more dependent on myself than I am on Jesus, I know I have absolutely nothing to say.
But day after day, He reminds me that He’s running this show.
This is His project and whether anyone reads it or not isn’t the point.
I’m writing for an audience of One.
So My Grace-Full Life keeps going.
For now.
At some point, He may redirect me, but for now, I’m here.
We are all called to an individual walk with Christ, and God has a project for each of us.
This morning, I read John 12:26.
Jesus said, “Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.”
Doesn’t that fill you with hope and comfort?
Where He goes, we go.
We belong with Him.
Yes, He gives us assignments, but He never leaves us alone to handle them on our own.
He empowers those who follow Him and His will.
1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
And we know from Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
We may not know the impact we’re having or understand the point of our assignment…
We may be well aware of how inadequate we are for the task and wonder what God’s thinking by putting it on our plate…
But if we follow Jesus, we can be assured that it’s okay.
We are with Him wherever He takes us.
And no matter what you do or where you or how old you are — if you’re willing, God has a project for you.
For example, I have friends who use their day jobs more as ministry than they do careers.
From my friend who is an accountant and my friend who is an interior decorator — both ladies have been given specific talents that they use to God’s glory every day.
I think it’s so cool how God can magnify our talents to His glory!
Isn’t it an amazing thought that while you were being knit together in your mother’s womb, God went ahead and began equipping you with special talents and gifts?
And that He allows us to choose whether we will use them for His glory.
And when we do, He’s right there beside us.
Encouraging us and empowering us.
Giving us strength we know isn’t from ourselves.
Today, as you pray, praise Jesus for being with you wherever you go!
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you clear direction and focus so you remember, no matter what you do — whether writing, crunching numbers, designing a home, or cutting hair…
You’re doing it for an audience of One!
