PRAYER PROMPT ••• Faith.
It’s what brings us to accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8).
Faith is trust and belief, even in the unseen and the unknown (Hebrews 11:1).
The very faith we have is a gift from God.
Hebrews 12:1b-2 says, “let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Note: He is “the founder and perfecter of our faith.”
It doesn’t say God expects us to figure out this faith-thing for ourselves.
Thank goodness, because the human response to the unseen and the unknown is fear.
That’s instinctual but it isn’t something we “have” to live with.
Thomas is a good example.
After the resurrection of Jesus, Thomas refused to believe unless he personally saw the “mark of the nails,” and placed his “finger into the mark of the nails,” and placed his “hand into his side” (John 20:25).
When a very-much resurrected Jesus came to Thomas, His response is recorded in John 20:29, “Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'”
If you’re struggling with faith — whether as an unbeliever who wants to believe but can’t quite get there, or as a Christian who just needs a little reminder that God’s got this — pray for it.
Pray for the faith you need.
God is very generous with faith, when we trust Him to provide!
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
