My Grace-Full Life

5.14.17 Prayer Prompt: Living the Bible

PRAYER PROMPT ••• I was scrolling through Instagram last night when I saw a post from PureFlix about a movie called, “I’m Not Ashamed.”
The post included the John MacArthur quote I used on this graphic.
I thought, “Wow. That’s a powerful statement,” and saved the post, not thinking I’d refer to it so quickly.
But as I started reading my Bible this morning, it kept coming to mind.
Every thing I say or do as a Christian is scrutinized by the world.
That constant scrutiny is something I HAVE to be mindful of… because someone is watching.
Someone is listening.
My life, words, and actions are supposed to be examples of God’s love, mercy, and grace…
I’m a Christian, but no one is perfect.
However, as a Christian, the world holds me to a different standard.
I’m supposed to be a model for Christ.
That’s an intimidating prospect in light of my imperfections, but God hasn’t set an unreasonable standard for me, or for you.
We are called to love others, forgive often, model kindness, grace, humility, compassion, patience… the fruits of the Spirit.
But one of those fruits is praise.
Psalm 103:1 says, “Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.”
If we can start with praise for God each day, what a great way to begin walking as a living Bible for others to read.
Today, as you pray, ask God to help you actively live the Bible.
Ask Him to fill you with praise that is so bright, it radiates for others to see.
Ask Him to help you live a life that reflects His word and His greatness.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
