PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• A few years ago, my favorite Christian novelist, Karen Kingsbury, wrote a trilogy called “Angels Walking” series.
These books outlined the heavenly assignments of angels and their mission on earth.
To be honest, until these books, I hadn’t given angels and their roles among us a whole lot of thought.
I knew they existed, but it was more of an acknowledgment that they showed up in Scripture from time to time.
Since then, God has used those fiction books to help open my eyes to the reality of angels working among us.
Psalm 91:11 NLT says, “For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.”
And I pray often for God to use angels to fight Spiritual battles and to protect the ones I love.
More specifically, I frequently pray for a heavenly swat team to help out in certain situations.
But either way—I know the angels who are on assignment from God are fighting for us; praying for us; helping us to achieve God’s purpose in our lives.
Make no mistake.
Angels and the Holy Spirit are not the same.
Colossians 2:18 warns us to make sure we don’t worship angels.
They are God-created beings too.
So caution has to be applied and of course, the angels who are on assignment from heaven would reject any form of worship (as described in Revelation 22:8-9, when John fell at the feet of an angel to worship).
But isn’t it comforting to know that our amazing God has an army of angels who He sends to help us?
Watch over and protect us?
Fight for us?
While God doesn’t need angels to do His work, I find the reality of angels to be quite comforting.
It is further demonstration that God’s power and might are highly personalized.
For instance, in my favorite angelic interaction from the Bible, the angel told Daniel, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.” (Daniel 10:12b).
Seriously, y’all—it’s also one of my favorite quotes from the Bible.
“Since the first day you began to pray…your request has been heard in heaven.”
God hears our prayers and He loves us enough to mobilize the angelic army of heaven from the first day we call out to Him!
Today, as you pray, praise God for making angels too.
Thank Him that He gives angels personal assignments to help us and protect us.
And I don’t think it’s unreasonable to pray for victory for the angels who are on assignment.
We can pray confidently for such a thing because in short, we are praying for God’s will.
His angels are on His mission, and therefore committed to His plan.
