PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Psalm 71:7 says, “My life is an example to many because you have been my strength and protection.”
A knee-jerk reaction to reading this may be that the writer was a little arrogant to assume his life was an example for others…
Except there are two keywords that make all the difference.
The Psalmist recognizes that any perceived value or greatness from his life can only be attributed to God the Father.
His acknowledgment makes this the Psalmist version of Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
And then, we go down one more verse to Psalm 71:8, “That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.”
Because of God, the Psalmist had strength.
Because of God, the Psalmist knew God would keep him safe.
And because of God, the Psalmist used his life to praise his redeemer and rock.
It wasn’t his actions or decisions that were an example to many, but his obedience and praise to the Father that others saw.
When we let God work through us and in us, it’s not us that people see, but His greatness and goodness.
So the question today is this…
Is your life an example to others?
Are you showing others the greatness of God through obedience and praise?
Today, as you pray, thank God for being all we need and more.
Praise Him for being the only one worthy of praise!
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live a life that shows God more than it shows you.
