4.8.18 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Are You Ready?

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Have you ever wondered what you’ll be doing when Jesus comes back?
In Luke 12:35-59, Jesus speaks of His mission and our responsibility to be prepared.
In verse 40 (NLT), Jesus said, “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”
My husband I have had this conversation before – where will we be?
What will we be doing?
It certainly makes you stop and think.
Jesus knows what we’re doing all the time, but the idea of Him returning unexpectedly and being unprepared is daunting.
He describes a situation of servants waiting on their master to return.
His example is clear and relatable.
But maybe a modern day analogy would be waiting for your boss to return and you being prepared with the reports he’s expecting…
Or being in a classroom, waiting for the teacher to come back…
In any of these situations, you would need to be prepared or you know there would be consequences.
In the case of being prepared for Jesus’ second return—the consequence of not being ready terrifies me.
The world will be in unimaginable chaos.
Cars suddenly unmanned and out of control.
Planes without pilots.
Read Jerry Jenkins’ book, “Left Behind” to get an idea of the chaos and despair that will be the consequence of not being ready for Jesus.
That series gives hope that people can still accept Christ after the second coming, but there are no promises that someone will survive the pandemonium to do so.
As for being ready, that doesn’t mean sitting still.
It means being active and engaged and doing our part to make sure everyone has an opportunity to go with us when Jesus returns.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 says, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.”
Do these words encourage you or scare you?
I’d be lying if I didn’t admit—a little of both.
I know where I’m going.
But I am scared for those who aren’t ready.
Today, as you pray, let’s first thank Jesus for His promise to return for us.
We know we have a Heavenly home waiting and best of all, forever to spend with Jesus!
Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit will keep us alert—waiting and watching so we are prepared when He calls us.
But please let’s pray for those who aren’t ready.
That they will learn the truth and not take the gamble that they will have a second chance.
If that’s you, and you’re not ready for Jesus, please read “Finding Faith” on my website or visit a website like InTouch.org or Proverbs31.org to search for guidance.
Or email me (Denise@MyGraceFullLife.com)!
I’d be happy to help you so you too can get ready and be prepared.
Jesus IS coming back.
