PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• In Philippians 4:19, it says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
There are so many things to love about this verse.
It’s a reflection of God’s trustworthiness.
He always keeps His promises.
But one of my favorite parts of the verse is the way Paul wrote, “my God.”
There’s a confidence and boldness that comes from that possessive statement.
It’s like how we refer to “my husband,” “my wife,” “my mom,” “my dad,” “my child.”
There’s a very personal aspect there.
When we use that possessive reference that showcases what is “mine,” it’s not a kind of selfishness.
It shows a kind of closeness.
It’s a “These are my people” statement that demonstrates familiarity.
It’s not about possession, but about a relationship.
Do you feel the same way as Paul that you can boldly refer to God as “my God?”
Do you claim that familiarity that Paul does?
Paul’s relationship with God was one of absolute, unwavering faith and trust.
It was what empowered Paul to embrace words that showcased his personal relationship with the Heavenly Father.
Today, as you pray, thank God for His willingness to have so personal a relationship with you too.
Thank Him that He is good and trustworthy.
Ask the Holy Spirit to embolden your heart as Paul’s was, to refer to our God with intimate familiarity as family, knowing that thanks to Jesus, you are an adopted son/daughter of God the Father.
