4.28.17 Prayer Prompt: Heart Change

PRAYER PROMPT ••• Do you ever feel discouraged with yourself?
You resolve to change bad habits and do better?
Perhaps you tell yourself, “I’m going to speak more kindly to my spouse.”
Or you promise yourself, “Starting tomorrow, I’m going to get up 30 minutes early to read my Bible!”
And how quickly we slip back into old habits!
The thing is, we are unable to change ourselves… sure, you can exercise and eat right and makeover your outward shell, but I’m speaking of the internal, lasting changes of the heart.
And even if you’re a Christian, we often try (and fail) to make these lasting changes on our own.
We need the Holy Spirit!
With Him, guiding us and active in our lives, all things are possible!
But His participation is only as much as we allow!
The Holy Spirit isn’t one who forces Himself;
He wants to be invited.
If you’re looking to make lasting change, the kind of change that results in a makeover of the heart, ask the Holy Spirit to change you.
As you pray today, ask Him to guide and direct, to convict your heart when you need redirecting or nudge you to say or act another way.
Ask Him to give you the strength to pause and listen, rather than moving full steam ahead.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
