PRAYER PROMPT ••• I’ve been reading about King David and this morning, a verse jumped out at me.
To set the stage, one of King David’s sons murdered the other for retaliation of his sister’s rape (2 Samuel 13:1-39).
The remaining son spent several years in exile before a wise woman was sent to King David to convince him to let this son return to Jerusalem.
The story far exceeds my word limit, so I hope you’ll take the time to read it for yourself…
In the course of the wise woman’s discussion with David, she said, “We must all die; we are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God will not take away life, and he devises means so that the banished one will not remain an outcast.” (2 Samuel 14:14).
The words spoke to me in a powerful way.
We have a life to live, but at the end of it — we can either continue to live through the acceptance of Jesus Christ, or die eternally in hell.
If we die without Christ, the water that’s been spilled cannot be gathered up again.
But with Jesus Christ — it can.
He is the only one who can gather up our spilled lives and make them full.
As you pray today, thank Jesus for being able to do what no other person can do — to fully restore the spilled cup of water.
Moreover, Jesus will not only restore your life, and give you everlasting life, He promised in John 10:10b, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Praise Jesus that He offers us everlasting and abundant life!
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
