PRAYER PROMPT ••• Have you ever been homesick?
I know the feeling very well.
Home is where we feel safe, it’s familiar, it’s where we belong.
I think most of us have a place we call home, but 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 says, “So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.”
These verses remind us that while we have our earthly home — it’s not permanent.
We are guaranteed a heavenly home through our faith in Jesus.
And while we may be spiritually homesick to be with our Savior, while we are on earth (our home away from heavenly home), we must live each day, moment by moment, with the purpose of pleasing God.
Today, as you pray, first, thank God that through faith, you are promised a heavenly home.
And second, pray that the Holy Spirit will direct you and use you to His purpose and calling.
Make it part of your prayer to remember what awaits you in heaven, so you won’t get too comfy routine of everyday life.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
