PRAYER PROMPT ••• When I first turned my life over to God, prayer was the most awkward and frustrating part of the experience.
I stumbled over words and couldn’t articulate thoughts.
After several weeks of trying, I cried out, “Lord, you know everything anyway. Can’t You just read my heart??”
Sure, He can, but shortly after that, just as I was about to give up trying, the Holy Spirit pressed on my heart that yes — God knows what I want to pray before I pray, but He still wants to hear me say it.
Imagine living with your spouse and they NEVER say I love you.
You know it, but the words are never said.
That’s how God feels about our prayers.
I finally figured it out — He’s not interested in being impressed by how big the words or how artfully I arrange them into sentences, just that I show up to say them.
The Holy Spirit also reminded me that my prayers can come in different packages…
For me, that meant writing my prayers in a journal, though I now feel far more comfortable praying in my head or aloud.
Through prayer, I’ve grown stronger in my faith.
Prayer is the key to a strong relationship with God.
Today’s Prayer Prompt goes to the root of what we do on this page every day — pray that God will show you how to pray.
Just as our faith comes from Him, so He can teach us how to pray.
Just talk to God.
Whether you use these as a tool to kick off your conversation or just glance every now and then… make your prayers a unique conversation between you and your Creator, trusting in the truth that He loves to hear from you.
NOTE: Feel free to comment, but these prayer prompts are meant to be between you and God. Matthew 6:6 — But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
