My Grace-Full Life

4.18.18 Praise & Prayer Prompt: God Doesn’t Get Lost

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• About 10 years ago, I got lost driving home from Chicago.
I had my son with me and we’d stopped in Louisville for dinner, and somehow, got on the wrong interstate when we got back on the road.
I ended up driving two hours in the wrong direction.
This was before I had a smartphone or a GPS.
But I did have two cell phones at the time. I pulled over somewhere in the middle of Tennessee, to call my parents.
I had my mom on one phone/ear and my dad on the other as I screamed, “I want a GPS for Christmas!!!”
Chicago, IL to Winston-Salem, NC was a long drive to begin with, without adding a several hour detour to the mix.
That day is long gone, but I remember the feeling of not knowing where to go or what to do.
The sense of frustration, anxiety, and frankly—exhaustion.
Because I had crazily taken my son to Chicago on a weekend road trip.
Yep.
A round trip of 23 hours of driving for a weekend.
I don’t know what I was thinking.
But that was also during my prodigal days.
I was lost in more ways than one.
With Jesus though, things are so much different.
No GPS or roadmap can compare because He will never let us lose our way from the path that we are called to walk.
In Isaiah 48:17b NLT, the Lord said, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.”
God doesn’t get lost.
He provides us guidance every step of the way.
As the psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
We don’t have to worry about what’s coming around the bend, because God knows.
Even if God takes us in an unexpected direction, or we’re tempted to ask, “Where on earth are you going?,” He’s got a plan.
A good one (Jeremiah 29:11).
Today, as you pray, give praise to the One who directs our steps (Proverbs 16:9).
Thank Him that He’s promised to stay with us through the trip if we will trust in Him (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Pray for wisdom and guidance, trusting He will provide everything you need for the journey He’s assigned specifically to you (James 1:5 and Philippians 4:19).
