PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Do you ever wonder what other people think of you? All of us wonder about that to some degree. Some people are truly bothered by it and consumed by it, spending hours fretting over what other people think of them. Others seem to let those opinions roll off them like water off a duck’s back. Personally, I try to operate by the policy, “What others think of me is none of my business.” It’s not easy and I don’t do it perfectly by any means… But I try to focus more on the people who I know like me and love me rather than wasting my time trying to convince someone who doesn’t like me that I’m a nice person…
What does matter, and what we should care about, is what God thinks of us. And if you’re curious, let me point out a few things God thinks of you:
- He cares about you (1 Peter 5:7)
- He has a plan for you (Jeremiah 29:11)
- He rejoices over you (Zephaniah 3:17)
- He cares so much that He has numbered the hairs on your head (Matthew 10:29-31)
- He created you on purpose and for a purpose (Ephesians 2:10)
- He doesn’t want to leave you on your own to figure it out (Joshua 1:9)
- He wants a relationship with you (John 1:10-13)
- He won’t let anything separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39)
- He loves you enough that He sent a Savior to die for you (John 3:16)
- He wants to remove pain and sorrow from you forever (Revelation 21:3-4)
- He calls you His (Isaiah. 43:1, 1 John 3:1)
This is about you. YOU. When self-doubt creeps in and you get caught in the trap of worrying about other people’s opinions, remember that the God of the universe put all these things in His book about you!
Consider this—7.594 billion people populate the earth. And He loves you. YOU. He literally knows and loves 7.594 billion people. He literally has counted the number of hairs on the heads of 7.594 billion people! He created 7.594 billion people for a purpose. He longs to have a relationship with 7.594 billion people! He wants 7.594 billion people to choose Him! And we’re just talking current population. We haven’t factored in all the people who have lived and died! Does that not just blow your mind?!?!?!
Don’t think you don’t matter. He created 7.594+ billion people and still thought the earth needed one of you. And when you realize that, the opinions of other people don’t really matter anymore. When you consider what God thinks of you and who He is—it’s enough to bring you to your knees in prayerful gratitude.
Today, as you pray, thank God for His unfathomable love for you. Thank Him for all the ways He cares for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember that you have a holy and divine purpose straight from the Creator Himself. Ask Him to help you live according to His plan and purpose.
