My Grace-Full Life

4.1.18 Praise Prompt: Because The Tomb is Empty…

PRAISE PROMPT ••• A friend of mine listed some of the events going on this weekend: Easter celebrations; Easter egg hunts; start of spring break; Final Four National Championship weekend (which I think has something to do with basketball?); and April Fools Day.
And for my family, we remember my grandfather, who is celebrating his seventh year in heaven today.
But NOTHING matters more than what today means: HE IS RISEN!!!
Jesus conquered death and He LIVES!!!
Death can never touch Him again, and thanks to what He did on the cross, we don’t have to either!
Because the tomb is empty, we can be full of grace if we believe in Jesus and accept His gift of salvation, understanding that we can do nothing to earn it (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Because of His selflessness, we can be full of love (Romans 5:8).
We can be full of joy because we love Him and are waiting for Him (1 Peter 1:8).
We can be full of peace because we know that physical death isn’t the end for those who believe – it’s the beginning of eternity with Jesus (Philippians 1:21-24).
We can be full of faith because Jesus is the author and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
We can be full of hope of what’s to come (Romans 8:24-25).
We can be full of gratitude for His obedience and willingness to die for us (Luke 22:42).
We can be full of confidence that Jesus lives because the angel declared to the women at the tomb, “He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.” (Matthew 28:6a NLT).
And He walked and talked with the disciples again!
The scars remain, but He lives!
John 20:27 and 29 say, “Then [Jesus] said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!’ Then Jesus told him, ‘You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.’”
It’s not finished.
The words Jesus spoke on the cross didn’t mean game over (John 19:30).
It was just the beginning.
When He came out of the tomb, He opened up the door for all who believe in Him to spend eternity with Him.
Today, let’s offer praise to the King of Kings who lives and reigns forever, Jesus Christ our Savior!
