PRAISE PROMPT ••• My mom loves all things military, especially the Marines, Navy Seals, and military dogs.
Yesterday on Facebook, she posted some pictures of military dogs in service.
My knee-jerk reaction is to feel sorry for the dogs.
But that’s a reaction rooted in a lifetime of not really understanding dogs… and being more of a cat person.
Cats can be trained, but let’s all agree – those are the weird ones.
Unlike dogs, who like having an alpha and a purpose, most cats are not easily persuaded to do our bidding.
And of course, military dogs are the elite of the elite when it comes to dog training.
I have no idea how military training works for dogs but beyond a doubt, I know trust is a tremendous part of the process.
The level of trust they have for their handlers blows my mind, especially when I see a photo of a dog, strapped to the chest of a soldier who is jumping out of a plane.
The rapport and relationship between the dog and his human is so strong, the dog isn’t worried for his safety.
He isn’t scared of the height.
Or aware of how completely unnatural it is to jump from a plane.
He has complete trust in his person.
They have a mission and they are prepared to do it, side by side together.
I think we can learn a lot from a military dog.
Life is a battle.
There is a very real spiritual war taking place all around us.
But as soldiers of the Lord, do we exhibit the same trust in our God as our military canines show in their humans?
In Isaiah 12:2, it says, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
And in Joshua 1:9, God said to Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
If God asks us to jump, He’s not asking us to do it alone.
If we’ve given our lives to Jesus, He’s right there through every battle we face.
Let’s praise our amazing God today!
He’s not sitting on the sidelines; He’s active and engaged and leading the charge!
We can fully surrender our trust to Him because He is with us wherever we go.
