TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)
PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• If we have to be quarantined, at least we’re quarantined with WiFi. Goodness knows that the Internet has provided tremendous opportunities for us to connect, pray, and support one another through encouragement and laughter. Through these circumstances, we have the opportunity to show the world that the church is NOT the building, but it is the people of God! Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Thanks to the Internet, we can continue to meet together, even through Bible study! And many churches are offering online solutions to stay connected to their congregations; I’ve certainly watched and listened to many this week!
Today, instead of a devotion and in my attempt to give encouragement, I’m compiling a list of online Bible study resources/books/films you may be interested in:
On my website, MyGraceFullLife.com, I have a tab called “READING LIST.” These are some of the books I’ve read in the last year that I recommend. I have about four more to add and I’ll get those up, hopefully, today. But all of these books are excellent Christian resources from authors I respect and trust.
One of my favorite books from that list, “Anxious for Nothing” is by Max Lucado. Starting tomorrow, the online BIBLE STUDY for that book, including the videos, will be available when you sign up at FaithGateway.com/obs
You can access previous ONLINE BIBLE STUDIES through Proverbs 31 Ministries at www.Proverbs31.org/study/online-Bible-studies. At the bottom, it includes links to all their past studies. I’ve done many of these and they are wonderful! “Dangerous Prayers” by Craig Groeschel is the next Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study but it doesn’t start until April 6th. I’m especially excited about this one. But P31 offers a TON of resources, including links to podcasts, First 5 App, daily email devotions, and more.
If you want some online SERMONS beyond what your church may be offering, YouTube. Personally, my favorite ministers to listen to are Greg Laurie, Charles Stanley, and Francis Chan. I can listen to them for hours because they offer solid Biblical teachings!
I got the word yesterday that the producers of the new JEREMY CAMP MOVIE are working to get it available for streaming since no one can go to a theater to see it right now. “I Still Believe” will be available later next week and as soon as I hear, I’ll let you know.
Speaking of Christian movies — Y’all, I cannot say this enough. YOU HAVE to download the app, “THE CHOSEN.” It’s an APP, not a streaming service!!!! That’s caused some confusion when I’ve tried to tell people about it. It is the BEST series I’ve ever seen on the Gospels. It has really deepened my understanding of Jesus’ humanity and given me a better look at the disciples. No subscription needed! Watch for free because it’s a pay-it-forward model.
I also highly recommend PUREFLIX.COM. This is a streaming service similar to Netflix but it’s faith-based and family-appropriate content. There are some truly delightful films I’ve discovered on PureFlix as well as documentaries and sermons!
The CREATION MUSEUM has been using its social media channels to showcase various exhibits. I know because yesterday, they posted a giant spider that showed up on Facebook and about made me jump out of my skin. But for those who have little ones, they will love learning about God’s creation from Christian scientists. I’ve personally toured the Creation Museum and it’s wonderful!
And if you’re a FICTION reader…. Well, I love love love anything by Karen Kingsbury and Francine Rivers. Lisa Tawn Bergren’s series, “The Northern Lights Series,” remains a top favorite. I love the “Left Behind” series by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. And Jerry B. Jenkins’ book, “Though None Go With Me” is another personal favorite. If you like suspense books, Dee Henderson is a brilliant writer.
Finally, I recently started an online PRAYER GROUP. You are welcome to join at Facebook.com/groups/onlineandonourkneesprayergroup/. We are praying together on Sunday night at 8 PM EST through Facebook Live.
Today, as you pray, thank God for the incredible wealth of resources we have available to us. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to a place where you can be closer to God, and make the most of this time through fellowship with Him. Ask Him to help you trust in Him throughout these difficult circumstances.
