3.13.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Free For Everyone

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• As summer approaches, community events and outdoor festivals are being planned and strategies to draw people in are being evaluated.
Promising a free hot dog to all attendees is a great way to attract people to an event…
Especially for families who are looking for free or low-cost things to do together and entertain the kids.
But if you’ve ever organized one of these events, you likely know—not everyone takes a hot dog.
They are there.
Freshly cooked and hot.
With all the bells and whistles…
Ketchup, mustard, relish.
Maybe even chili.
But some people will walk right past the offer for free food.
Many will even complain about being hungry and still walk by.
You can’t make everyone take a hot dog, but you wish they would.
Titus 2:11 says, “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.”
Salvation is free, but not everyone takes it.
And as Christians, it should be heartbreaking for us to watch our fellow human beings complain about being unfulfilled and lacking in peace and contentment, when we’re standing right behind the source of salvation…
The One whose hands are reaching out, offering it at no cost, and yet, these people walk right by.
They refuse to look at Jesus who is offering everything they seek.
Ultimately, you know they are going to leave and there’s not going to be a second chance.
Friends, we should be pleading with others to take the free gift.
It’s not for our benefit.
It’s for theirs.
We aren’t racking up Christian-bonus-points.
This is a part of our call to be disciples…
To let others know that there’s this free gift waiting for them to take.
To let them know that the internal hunger they feel in their soul will be an eternal anguish if they don’t take what is being offered for free in this one life we’re given.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for what He offered to the world when He stretched His arms out on the cross.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you encourage others to take the free salvation and grace offered to anyone who wants it.
