5.18.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Faith in the Unseen

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

This verse, along with bold prayer, has a lot of power.

It’s something I remind myself of often, especially when I continue to pray about a particular prayer request.

It’s when we pray for God to intercede and work a miracle, that we have such a tremendous opportunity to believe in the unseen.

We know His hands are at work.

But just as the angel told Daniel, there is also a spiritual battle taking place and the enemy is relentless in his attempts to disrupt God’s plans (Daniel 10).

Please re-read today’s signature verse.

“Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

This is the ESV translation, but let’s look at the CSB too.

It says, “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.”

Assurance equals reality.

Conviction equals proof.

Whatever we’re praying about, if our hearts are lined up with God’s and we’re focused on making His will our will, He IS working on that miracle we’re praying for.

His will will always come through.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

We cannot pray the world’s standards and expect God to bless us, but when we line up our thoughts with His…

When we align our hearts with His…

When we want His will more than we want our own way…

Then, we come full circle back to Hebrews 11:1 and we can have that assurance…

That reality…

That conviction…

That proof…

Even in the things we do not see.

Even in the situations where we cannot see any miracle-in-the-making, His hands are at work.

Today, as you pray, thank God that though a spiritual war rages, the outcome is already known.

He wins.

Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to align your will with God’s and ask Him to help you want what God wants more than your own wants.

Ask the Holy Spirit to empower your faith to pray boldly for the unseen things, trusting in God’s hands and the work He is doing.
